This is an assessment of a Steel Helical Pile System that can be used as a deep foundation solution instead of other foundation systems.
This registration covers the piles only. Other items such as ground beams or Housedeck or Comdeck type slab foundations are to be dealt with separately or have their own Registered Detail.
The central shaft of the helical pile is a 114.3mm diameter 6.3mm thick hot finished circular hollow section. The grade of steel is API-5CT-L80 with a minimum yield strength of 552 MPa.
The helix plate geometries available are: 300 and 350 mm diameter – 12mm thick and 400, 450 and 500mm diameter – 15 mm thick. The steel grade used for the helical plates is S275 to BS EN 10025.
The coupler is a circular rolled section with external diameter of 133.3mm and 8mm thick; the steel grade of the plate being S275 to BS EN10025. The length of the coupler is typically 410mm long.
Bolts are M20 grade 8.8 non preloaded bolts to EN ISO 4014 – H022 Zinc Plated and three bolts per coupler are used to connect the pile shaft segments.
Welds are specified following the procedures of British Standards (BS 1011-1).
Grade C30 cementitious grout or concrete can be specified as a fill in the hollow section pile if required.
